Environmental Impact Assessment

Environmental Assessment is a growing industry in the UK. Recent amendments to the EU Directive, on which the process is based, are certain to expand this area of environmental planning and management. Training and updating in the skills, techniques and process of Environmental Assessment is therefore valuable for those already involved, and for other practitioners who wish to enter the area.

On this course you will:

• Examine the organisation, preparation, presentation and decision making process in Environmental Assessment (EA)
• Develop a critical understanding of the process and procedures for undertaking an EA, with particular reference to the Town and Country Planning (Assessment of Environmental Effects) Regulations 1999
• Focus on practice and implementation for planning and project design needed for carrying out an EA
• Be introduced to some of the methods of assessment and the issues raised by the experience of EA in the UK since its introduction in 1988
