Introduction to Environmental Management Systems (EMS)

A one-day course designed to give businesses a complete overview of environmental management, including how to start a management system, understanding the law, minimising environmental impacts, waste minimisation, etc. This course can include a brief site audit when conducted in-house. An ideal course for those seeking to implement, for example, an EMS that conforms to ISO 14001: 2004. It is appropriate for those with little existing knowledge about ISO 14001 and is indispensable for those operating, or planning to operate an ISO 14001 based system. Internal EMS auditors in particular need to know the content of ISO 14001. The course includes:

• Understand how ISO 14001 could be applied to their business
• Understand the purpose of an EMS and explain the legislative framework

Employee Awareness Training

A one-day interactive training course designed to provide an overview of environmental issues for the employees of businesses wishing to implement an EMS. Normally held at the business base and designed to cater for large employee groups from all backgrounds, the course includes:

• Awareness raising on environmental issues
• The purpose of an EMS in managing environmental aspects and impacts
• The relevance to business of environmental management and sustainable development
• Audit objectives and scope
